[puredyne] Confusion & Suggestions Updated

The original email was sent via desktop email program which defaults to my
primary email account. This update is sent from the account I registered in
signing on to your mail list, and which I use for all computer related
matters.

I am very pleased to report that I can now access the internet using
puredyne's native network manager. I'm not certain what I did: perhaps just
moving my laptop to a location with better reception, or running it from a
Live-HD install. However, I still think that it would pay for someone to
look into co-opting Puppy Linux's network manager, which includes a module
for setting a static IP address if automatic DHCP fails.

Having done a Live-HD install, I am almost certain that that part of the
"Lin'N'Win" method of using gelder, modifying boot.ini, but with your
instructions regarding what should be written to menu.lst would work in the
context of dual booting with XP. (Only Linux is on the computer onto which I
installed puredyne consequently I only had to modify GRUB's menu.lst. But
I've used the "Lin'N'Win" method on other computers).

I would still like to know whether puredyne is now based on debian lenny, or
Ubuntu.

At any rate, least I forget again, my congradulations for a beautiful and
functional distribution.
